Mascot Development
The GGC logo originated from the name of the server. In Chinese, “Gugu” represents the cooing sound of a pigeon, which led me to choose a pigeon as the central visual element of the identity.
The first version of the logo was used for approximately three months. As the visual identity of the server developed, I realized that its original illustration style did not fully align with Minecraft’s pixel-based visual language. I therefore redesigned the logo while retaining the pigeon as its core element, translating it into pixel art and developing a color palette inspired by the natural colors of real pigeons.
When the identity was later applied to physical merchandise, I noticed that some of the colors did not reproduce consistently across different materials and printing methods. This led me to refine and standardize the palette, resulting in the current version of the GGC logo.
A combination of structured display type and handwritten lettering
creates a balance between the game’s digital environment and
GGC’s playful community personality.
